The 12 grant awards of 2022

With the nights closing in and the leaves falling fast, 2022 is drawing to a close. It has been another challenging year. Following the pandemic; global tensions, fuel shortages and the rising cost of living have led to an unabated rise in inequality across our community and as a consequence an alarming increase in both absolute and relative poverty.

Thanks to donations and the support of our corporate ambassadors, Guildford Philanthropy has been able to make 12 grant awards over the 12 months in 2022, totalling nearly £90,000 to many worthy causes, including the following:

GASP Motor Project We have contributed the costs of supporting young people to build skills, confidence and resilience for a brigher future.
Matrix Trust We have funded a course that will offer young people the opportunity and support to get into work.
YMCA Our funding has helped produce content for a digital platform for delivering skills and resources for young people.
Halow Project We have supported the costs of a volunteer co-ordinator to help young people with learning difficulties.
Home Start Our funding has gone towards costs for recruiting volunteers that help the charity support disadvantaged families with children under six years of age.
Men in Sheds Our funding and pro bono support has helped convert two sheds at Merrist Wood Campus for use by senior men suffering from loneliness.
Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership We have funded a project to support those experiencing disadvantage with learning and employment skills.
