Providing training, work experience and jobs to the unskilled or disabled
Helping those that provide unpaid care to family and friends
We help local charities, community and voluntary organisations
Guildford Philanthropy is a local initiative which aims to transform the lives of less fortunate members of our community and address the disadvantage that exists on our doorstep.
Guildford has more streets where the average price of a property is over £1m than anywhere else in the country, outside central London. It also pays the highest inheritance tax per head in the whole country. Therefore the chasm between the ‘have’ and the ‘have nots’, the advantaged and disadvantaged, and the fortunate and less fortunate is wider in Guildford than anywhere else. Guildford Philanthropy endeavours to raise awareness and encourage local giving to tackle local need. In some parts of the Borough 40% of children live in poverty and across the Borough some 6,000 adults have no qualifications and little opportunity to improve their lives.
