Wendy Watson of FurnitureLink gives us an update on the project being supported by Guildford Philanthropy
Furniturelink is a local charity and social enterprise established in 2010. The organisation provide affordable furniture to residents on low incomes in our community and at the same time diverts furniture from landfill. It provides volunteer placements and employment opportunities for local residents.
Wendy says: “We like to refer to ourselves as a community furniture project –
Wendy continues: “We sell Furniture and paint and provide a Delivery, collection and Bulky Waste service as well as house clearance and small house move services.
We offer a reduced rate for furniture and services to residents claiming any benefits this includes pensions and child tax credits.
Furniturelink is open the EVERYONE!! So anyone can shop with us and grab a bargain from our warehouse at 2b Merrow Business Park GU4 7WA (Monday – Saturday) or online from our eBay shop.
We have been extremely lucky to have received a grant from the Guildford Philanthropy towards the purchase of a new van. Our van is essential to our operation and we couldn’t operate without it.
We hope that the Guildford Philanthropy Corporate Ambassadors will open doors for us and help us to connect with the correct people to help grow and ensure the longevity of our small charity so we can continue helping the residents of Guildford.
