Community Angels

On behalf of the Trustees of Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy I am writing to thank the Trustees of Guildford Philanthropy for their most generous grant towards the work of our Community Angels project to contribute towards staff costs in the first six months of 2024. This is such an encouragement; we are extremely grateful!

Our award-winning Community Angels have been tackling social isolation and loneliness since 2018, over this period we have supported hundreds of local vulnerable people who have been referred to us for help. The project is now well established and highly respected for its work with individuals who are often paralysed by their isolation. The pandemic has raised both the profile and the needs for our services, and we are delighted that we have attracted new volunteer befrienders, although we are still actively recruiting to meet high demand. Our Angels continue to feel privileged to be able come alongside people of any age, providing a listening ear, offering non- judgemental compassionate support to those who are referred to us.

Our work serving the local community can only be sustained and developed with the help of our wide and diverse body of supporters, so we appreciate this endorsement of our work from both the Community Foundation for Surrey and Guildford Philanthropy!
