Challengers, which supports young people with learning difficulties and complex disabilities, was given £5,000 in late 2024 to help with essential running costs. It supports 750 disabled children and young people each year.
Natasha, a parent whose son Toby (10), has attended since he was 3, said: “I think Toby would be so much more severe in his mental health and his state of mind now if we hadn’t found Challengers. It’s crucial for families to survive. I think everyone that has a child with disability should be able to access somewhere like Challengers; it’s crucial for families to survive. Challengers is life-changing. The support we’ve had has definitely made us a stronger family, a strong unit, stronger parents. If I didn’t have Challengers, I don’t think I’d have the son I have now. They’ve nurtured him how I would nurture him as a mum.”
