Guildford Jazz is a local, not for profit, organisation whose aim is to bring some of Britain’s finest musicians to a local Surrey audience. It organises regular monthly gigs by the finest UK jazz musicians at Guildford’s Electric Theatre and at the Pavilion at Guildford Rugby Club. Since it started running regular events in March 2011, it has organised over 250 concerts regular gigs for an audience of around 13,000 music lovers.
In addition Guildford Jazz organises two outdoor concerts a year – the Wood Street Jazz Festival and Jazz at Loseley Park in aid of two local charities, Challengers and GUTS. For local amateur and young musicians it hosts a monthly jam session at the Merry Harriers pub and occasional workshops led by our visiting artists.
Guildford Jazz has raised over £36,000 for local charities like Challengers and G.U.T.S since it was established in 2011. Guildford Jazz is the first arts organisation and first not for profit organisation to become a corporate supporter of Guildford Philanthropy.
