On 21st June, our team of walkers donned their boots to mark the start of English Wine Week and raise vital funds for two community-led Surrey charities – Guildford Philanthropy and The High Sheriff of Surrey’s Youth Awards; donations so far have totalled over £16,655.
“It’s an incredible achievement and I’m very grateful to everyone who took part and everyone who sponsored us,” said High Sheriff and Guildford Philanthropy panel member Peter Cluff.
The team walked 23 miles along the North Downs Way on one of the hottest days of the year, taking them through the vineyards of Greyfriars, Chilworth Manor, Albury, High Clandon and Denbies, along with a quick stop at the Tillingbourne Brewery, supported by a fantastic crew of helpers and met by amazing staff at each venue.
The money raised will be split equally between the charities. With 50% match funding from Guildford Borough Council, the funds raised for Guildford Philanthropy so far total £9,993.
Sponsorship continues to be gratefully received with every contribution making a difference to local charities and the people they support. Donate by visiting www.vosh.co.uk.
