St John’s Church

Due to our ambassador’s kind donations and generous match funding by Guildford Borough Council, we have been able to grow our endowment and also make several important grant awards in recent months.

One of these being St John’s Church – Holiday Hunger Programme.

The St John’s Community Services aims to support families suffering hardship and food poverty due to the current cost-of-living crisis by providing free frozen meals during school holidays/half-terms. SJCS is a project of St John’s Church, Stoke-next-Guildford, run by volunteers from the church and the local community, for the benefit of the Stoke community and wider in Guildford as resources allow.

The service will be available to vulnerable families in the community (irrespective of faith, ethnicity, age, gender, etc.) as referred by local schools, caring agencies and charities who work on the ground and know the families and their needs well. Our grant ensures that this initiative has funding for the next two years over which time they anticipate helping over 2,400 local residents.
